For me, this is the definitive work of fantasy literature. Everything I look at reading comes up for comparison with this series--as well it should, as I started reading when there were only 7 books out. I remember eagerly snatching up The Path of Daggers as a teenager when it came out, I remember hunting Winter's Heart down in a local library, and I was devastated when Robert Jordan passed away in 2007.

Started this series June 2012. Around book 6 it turned from reading for pleasure into a project I was determined to finish, so I began just taking my time. Once Sanderson took over the story picked back up, but even he at times exhibited a bit of Jordan's writing-just-to-write feel. I suggest this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy, can make the time commitment to get through 12,000 pages, and deal with some slow books in the middle. If you like great prose, this will work for you. Character development? Jordan's your pusher. Compelling story? This is your hook up. However, be prepared to be frustrated with effusive excess and repetition.

I definitely enjoyed the first 3 books in this series. The advice my older brother gave me when picking it up was: read the first 3 books and then imagine whatever ending you like because they are not as good afterwards. Though this advice was being given around midway of the books being written. I feel that I should have heeded his advice. After Book 0,1,2,3,4,5 i can tell the Wheel of time is a very good story, but it has some major issues. And thats why i wont continue reading the series.
First of all its too long, its obvious the author wanted to write more quantity and less quality. In a lot of chapters nothing happens.
Secondly i hate most of the female characters. Their arrogant feminist attitude has really bothered me throughout the books.

As Sony and Amazon are doing a Wheel of Time (WoT) TV series I decided to read this series again. I sort of went through my teenage years and early 20s with WoT and I remember fondly discussing the prophecies, direction of the plot, and the men/women relationships back then.

By the time I got to the end of this book I wanted to dig up the author and bury him again. It was a great story and the last three books were more readable but there was so much dross and filler that this 14 book series could have been well told in a trilogy. Two years ago I started listening to the first audio book to have something to occupy my mind when feeding and cleaning up my newborn. Since then he has become a toddler and I now have a second baby, we have moved twice, and I've learned a lot on the way :

Epic. Classic. Felt like a rite of passage finishing the series. There were a few books in the middle that were a bit swampy, but in the end, I have never understood a cast of characters, their motivations and intentions, cultural and biographical persuasions in a story better. It made it almost impossible to finish the series because I didn't want it to end. Almost.

As a series, it is a fabulous fantasy epic that takes you down many an interesting path that often has you at the end your 'seat'. It takes a commitment to finish the series and one you do you really feel like you have achieved something. The books can be a bit slow but the reading is great.
Love this series. However, books 1-9 are outstanding. 10-12 almost made me stop reading. The final set by Sanderson were brilliant. The finale was epic and worth the lows of book 10. Love it.

The first book is a blatant ripoff of Lord of the Rings (Group of peaceful young-folk ripped from their sleepy backwater village by [the equivalents of] a Wizard and her Ranger to travel to Mordor to save the world from the Dark Lord. This is the most expansive, and well-built world I have ever been immersed into. (Until the Stormlight series at least) It is a reader's dream come true, HUGE world, with details spent in many different lands, with reveals interspersed throughout the novels, keeping the reader interested and wanting to read more. When I was reading this book series everything was full of ups and down. When I started to read the book, it lead me to other and then to other. For the whole series I'll rate the complete book series as 4 stars. There are many thoughts about the whole series. It really is a good book fantasy fiction series.
The characters are definitely good and really well developed in the series and the plot is good. I found the book interesting and would definitely recommend this book to all fantasy lovers.

Premise[edit]
The Wheel of Time follows Moiraine, a member of the powerful, all-woman organization Aes Sedai, who goes on a journey across the world with five young people, who she believes might include the reincarnation of a person prophesied to save or destroy humanity.[1] Winchester model 62 serial number.
Production[edit]
In 2000, NBC optioned the screen rights to Robert Jordan's fantasy novel series The Wheel of Time but did not ultimately proceed with the production.[1] In 2004, Jordan sold the film, television, video game, and comic rights to the series to production company Red Eagle Entertainment.[1] In 2015, Red Eagle Entertainment paid air time to cable network FXX to air Winter Dragon, a 22-minute pilot for a potential The Wheel of Time series starring Billy Zane and Max Ryan that allowed Red Eagle to hold on to the rights to the project.[2] Subsequently, the company sued Jordan's widow, Harriet McDougal, for her comments about the pilot[3] and the lawsuit was resolved in 2016.[4]
On April 20, 2017, it was announced that Sony Pictures Television was producing a new adaptation of the book series in association with Red Eagle Entertainment and Radar Pictures. Rafe Judkins was expected to serve as showrunner for the series and executive produce alongside Rick Selvage, Larry Mondragon, Ted Field, Mike Weber, and Darren Lemke. Robert Jordan's widow Harriet McDougal was set to serve as a consulting producer.[5]
On October 2, 2018, it was announced that Amazon had given the production a series order. Additionally, it was further announced that Amazon Studios would serve as a production company for the series.[1][6][7] On February 19, 2019, Uta Briesewitz was confirmed as director for the first two episodes.[8]
